On 30th June 2019 40 students and 4 staff left Ecco for a week in Germany – and what a week it was!
The packed itinerary started with a tour of the city and an opportunity to take some brilliant photos from the top of Cologne’s world famous cathedral. After that we visited Bayern Leverkusen’s stadium where our students listened brilliantly to the tour and asked some really insightful questions. On Tuesday we went to a German school and then on Wednesday hit all the tourist spots, including the sport museum, the zoo and the chocolate museum. On Thursday we spent a full day in Phantasialand – one of Europe’s biggest theme parks. Not for the faint-hearted, once again our students rose to the challenge and conquered the Black Mamba while being friendly and polite to everyone they came across. We finished the week with a meal at the Hard Rock Café – a fantastic end to a fantastic week.
Having had such an amazing time, it was tough to choose a best bit, but a definite highlight was our visit to the German school. Seeing our students chatting and laughing with the German students and practising their German made our week! It is the reason we organise these trips and we were incredibly proud of our students getting stuck in (despite being a little apprehensive beforehand!) Our students were a credit to themselves, their parents and the school. They’ve made some fantastic friendships and memories which will stay with them for the rest of their lives. #WeAreEcco
