The schools work in promoting the values of the NCS programme was recognised recently, when we were awarded the NCS Silver Champion Award. The award recognises excellence in promoting the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme at the NCS Champion School Awards Ceremony, held at the Sheffield Wednesday Football Club in November.
The NCS has become a regular fixture on the Y11 calendar, with almost 90 students taking part in the programme last year. The NCS team have already been into school a number of times this year and have successfully made almost 50 sign ups this year. The buzz is already starting with Year 11s talking about which wave they are on for summer 2019.
The programme is a fantastic way for students to experience independence by living away from home for the first 2 weeks (Mon – Fri), experiencing new challenges and learning new skills through team building exercises and outdoor activities, all while making new friends and contributing to their community. Then it’s back home for the final 2 weeks, to run a community action project of their choice in their local area, putting their new skills to use and giving back to their communities. When they’re done, they get to graduate together, picking up their certificate signed by the Prime Minister and celebrating in style at the graduation party!

The NCS team will also be at the Y11 parents evening in January, to answer any of your questions.
