Pupil Premium and Catch-Up Premium

The Pupil Premium and Catch-Up Premium at Ecclesfield School

What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools to support disadvantaged pupils.  Ecclesfield School receives additional funding for Looked After Children, children who have been adopted from Care, children from Service Families and for every pupil who has received a free school meal over the past 6 years.

If you are not sure whether your child is eligible for free school meals, please click here, where you will also find an application form.

How Pupil Premium Funding supports pupils at Ecclesfield School

If your child is eligible for free school meals, the school also receives ‘Pupil Premium’ funding. This funding helps us to secure the best possible outcomes for pupils through providing high quality teaching and learning. We have based our spending priorities on research, such as the Sutton Trust-EEF Teaching and Learning Toolkit, which provides guidance for schools on how to use their resources to improve the attainment of disadvantaged pupils.

What is the Catch-Up Premium?

The Catch-Up Premium gives schools additional funding to support Year 7 students who did not achieve the expected standard at the end of Key Stage 2 i.e. a scaled score of les than 100. The funding is designed to raise the attainment of these students so that they narrow the gaps that exist between them and their peers.

How Catch-Up Premium Funding supports pupils at Ecclesfield School

At Ecclesfield School we recognise the importance of early identification of gaps in student learning and the need to act quickly and decisively to address these.  Our aim is to ensure that wherever possible, all students meet age-related expectations and have full access to the range of subjects within the curriculum.  Catch-Up Premium funding is used to provide targeted literacy and/or numeracy interventions for relevant students.
