Art and Photography

What will my child learn in this subject?

Our Ethos

As Art and Photography teachers we have the responsibility to inspire and challenge students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. We will help students develop the creative skills needed to access learning and employment. We have the privilege of encouraging our young people become thoughtful, compassionate citizens through the exploration of a wide range of Artwork, Artists and Art Practices. By studying a range of Artwork and having high expectations regarding pupils’ learning potential, our curriculum will allow them to develop the technical, skills needed to live successful and happy lives. They will know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our own lives.

Our Aims

5 Year Plan

We teach a wide range of disciplines to students across all key stages which include drawing, painting, printmaking, Photography, Photoshop, textiles and ceramics. At KS3 and KS4, students are also given the opportunity to experience works of art at first hand.
